Title: Bike insurance.
Post by: Oldtimer on May 28, 2020, 08:21:50 PM
Just got my bike insurance sorted. I have gone with Peter James for a 2 bike policy. Spoke to a very nice lady on the phone who asked me about my bikes as my NorBSA is not a standard bike and has 'modifications'  She came back after discussing with some 'experts' and quoted me less than if I didn't declare any mods. Result the XBR and the NorBSA combined £129. Happy with that. I am also getting an independent valuer to give me a market value which I can forward on to Peter James. I will let you know what he values it at.

Less than if you didn't declare your mods?! My tiny brain is struggling to cope with this little gem! Once my mods are finished, I shall be going straight to Peter James 👍

It was only a few pounds cheaper and I was really surprised that it came in lower, I honestly thought it would be higher.

Plus 1 for Oeter Janes, tho next month is my tricky third year...will they bump me?

NO limited mileage, ride to work, Euro cover AND BREAKDOWN, human with a brain answers phone.

4 bikes, garaged, £135. I'm 52, "leisure attendant" cos they dont have my job on their list.

Bennetts wanted to put my multi bike insurance up by 44% this year.  Not impressed.  Its been a bit more of a challenge this year getting other quotes as companies keep you on hold - understandable in the circumstances I suppose.

Devitt oddly enough couldn't find an MZ ETZ250 or an ETZ125 on their database.  Damned weird.

Paying private companies so I can use public roads always bemuses me.

I think age is a bit of an influence as I am 72 this year.

Never! Nothing to do with age. Very experienced rider!  ;)

Good health, Bill

I was insured through Bennetts a couple of years ago,and it turned out that it was cheaper with a £100 excess than  a £200 excess! I don't think I'll ever understand insurance.
