Thanks Ian that is fabulous. What a very skilled man and what a lovely, although impractical, bike. My wife and I visited a folk museum near Hutton-le-Hole in Yorkshire (began with an r but I can't remember exactly) and they had a section for agricultural implements awaiting restoration. One was a rotavator with a big side valve J.A.P engine and my wife said 'there you go you could get that running'. I said flippantly that if I did I would want to put it in a motorbike frame. Sadly I was dreaming as I don't have his level of skill but I wish I did. A nice sv engine green laner would be lovely.

p.s. Maybe if I bought a flat cap my skill level would climb!

Who knows Pete maybe a cat flap would help more than a flat cap. Mind you I think my dog would worry what was coming if I put in a cat flap!

Ryedale Folk Museum...😁

That's the one! My friend Trevor looks after their clocks which is why we visited. Lovely place to go for a day out and there is a great teashop just next door in the village.

There are some really skilled people about. There's an interesting thread on another forum - a bloke building a 1/4 scale De Havilland engine. Not my cup of tea in itself but what work. And with fairly basic machine tools as well!

Amazing story told by enigmatic, owner with skills, bit of history, brass balls (funny!) and the sound of the bike itself running at the end (thank goodness) Many thanks for posting.

My sons initials are JAP.... he thinks it’s well cool to have an olds cool Brit engine with his initials on the side.
