Morini 125 1979 Tappets? SteveL!
« on: April 27, 2007, 11:33:40 PM »
Morning Steve,

More stripping and checking the wee minx into the early hours!

Thought the top end rattly when purchased. After fitting new rubber band and replacing all the right hand side bits in the correct order, went for a look under the rocker cover.

Gorilla snot over everything, crushed spring beneath breather on nearside front of cover, should this stepped breather be free to slide? See little point in the spring if it isn't.

Tappets were set at 0.5mm inlet and 0.6mm exhaust! Bl**dy maracers! I know they need to be 1.0mm when adjusting the valve timing, but! PLEASE CONFIRM TAPPETS 0.1MM (0.004") FOR BOTH INLET AND EXHAUST?

Ta, Bill

morning william

I'm not the man to be asking, #1 Son is the morini  expert, not sure if he'll know about the 125 though, sold his about a year ago, but i'll ask, he's round here this morning sometime.

you could look on the morini riders website http://www.morini-riders-club.com/ , could be some info there, or ask in the forum

cheers

Steve

Morning Steve,

I have a manual from NLM but there are handwritten notations in it. Not easy to discern whether these are part of the NLM service or last owner!!

It appears that all of the engines have the same valve clearance, regardless of capacity and number of cylinders. I am just looking for a bit of assurance, having found what I have.

Thank you and #1 son for your time.

Bootiful day here. Touch cool of a sea 'bout 25 mile away.

Cheers, Bill.
