insurance claim advice
« on: September 19, 2019, 05:13:45 PM »
I had a small incident in which my silencer fell off and put a small dint in a car. If i put it through my insurance as a `fault incident` and am not claiming for my own vehicle,  will my renewal be excessive ? I know it will put my premium up.  The car owner wants me to give him £200 cash and he will go away.  it is a lease car not his own, I am inclined to put it through my insurance, any suggestions ?  Quick response would be handy guys... :(

Give him the £200 I say. Or offer him £150 and see how he reacts to that offer.  Just make sure he signs something to make sure he really does "go away " best of luck

tempting to pay the £200 isn't it ....    but that way lies all sorts of gremlins  like A) will he 'go away' B) you are still required to tell your insurance company about the accident.

So, my advice is to put it through as a third party claim, as you say you will not be claiming yourself, yes it will affect your renewal premium  but thats life, you will be legal and above board with your insurance company, which, in my view is important.

you may lose some NCD credit, unless you have it covered.

Yep, I think I will do it above board, he won`t like it but that`s tough,  thanks for opinions.

Hi

I'm with SteveL, do everything legally and above board. Ask yourself why this guy is so keen to keep it under the radar. Also these days things can come back and bite you if they aren't fully done by the book. Play safe mate, a small rise in premium is worth the peace of mind I think.

I passed it on to insurers, at least i can stop worrying about it , i will put a few quid away every week until renewal time in march to try and cover the increase a bit.,  hope it doesn't go up too much,     :(       on a brighter note, i got the bus into durham and back tonight, had three pints and spent £4  !!!! don`t you just love Sam Smiths OB..    ( £2 a pint but an acquaintance bought myself and a mate a pint  before he left)

Oh I don't know. I'd rather be my age now than in my 20s.
