MT 03 660 replacement instrument panel
« on: June 02, 2019, 12:00:42 PM »
Hi,
with 18000 miles (2007 plate) on the clock, my instrument panel has died due to water ingress- no speed or revs or display. The indicator lights still work though.

So as I'd rather not get a new one from Yamaha at £472 (inc vat) which I doubt I could as like many MT bits its 'out of stock',  and there are none to be had on ebay, I was wondering if anyone knows what the alternatives could be.

Even though the MT 03 has a unique instrument panel shape does it share the same wiring and plugs as the XT perhaps? If that is true then making a bracket is not a problem.

Thanks in advance for any advise

Hi Tim  - that is a PITA!!

Might seem onvious, but have you disnantled, dried it out completely, and checked again...it might not be u/s?

If it is, there may be an aftermarket digital panel available (I firget the name, but there was ine that folk with old Hondas bought to replace normal clocks). If not, there are quite a few MTO3s around so a breaker may sort you out for £150?

Meanwhile (and this is a TERRIBLE bodge) a bicycle speedo does do the job for £15, takes a few runs to get accurate, but not too hard.  I also had a mate who had a speedo app on his phone, mounted on his bars. Doesnt get you revs, but it might give you time to wait for a second hand panel at the right price.

Good luck.
