Scottish Classic Bike Show
« on: July 01, 2018, 09:56:40 PM »
Five of us headed over to the Scottish Classic Bike Show in Ayr on Saturday morning. Very enjoyable and as usual there was also plenty to see in the car park including a Norton / Yamaha SRX special. Stayed in the Stair Inn, a cracking wee country pub nearby. Back to the ferry port via the A713 to New Galloway then past Clatteringshaws loch to Newtown Stewart on some highly recommended roads

Regards

Tony

That is nice Tony. When I join the local NOC runs around here a masking tape sticker is applied to the tank of Sally "Not a Norton", they can get confused!! ;)

Missed it this year, but it is always a good show even in the rain, with plenty of interesting stuff from the west. The run back to the port sounds familiar and would have been cracking, just have to watch the wide open spaces and the corners, with the odd stray ewe and lamb in tow!  :o ;)

Good health, Bill

Yes Bill, it was a cracking run down to New Galloway in perfect conditions, not always the case in that part of the world. It's a lovely part of Scotland with quite a few good roads within the Forest Park including the unsurfaced Raiders Road. I discovered this area about 35 years ago when I cycled over to the Lake District on a 10 day trip (not sure if I could repeat that these days!).

I had meant to post this 2nd photo of the SRX - It was difficult to get a good shot as there was another bike parked close to it.

Regards

Tony

OH! Tony,

Firstly, may I obtain copies of the images from the forum?

Secondly, I wonder if it handles as well as a Slimline, with Roadholders, Manx swing arm and a breathed on Goldie in the frame?

I really MUST get the old Duke sorted out and on the road, ruddy SRX Mono is taking an age.

Thank you for sharing.

My regards, Bill

Yes, that's no problem Bill - or I could e-mail you the higher resolution originals if you want. I wonder if the owner ever has a look at our forum - it would be interesting to find out more about it.

Regards

Wow, yes, that's lovely. Similar to the Manki which has a Suzuki LS650 engine in a featherbed frame with Norton cycle parts.
