Yamaha XT600 Cafe job
« on: December 08, 2017, 10:44:31 AM »
Whilst I like wood, I'm still not sure about its use on a bike.  :-\  Splinters up the jacksie and all that!  :o

However, this particular machine appears to be well put together, but not suitable for our salt laden, slush covered roads up here at the present moment.

Yes I was looking at this bike the other day Bill. Like you say generally a very nice looking and well executed build.... wooden seat unit, just a tad to "art for arts sake" for my liking. Give me ally, fibreglass or even carbon fibre, but I'm sorry pop that one on the fire 🔥

As a fan of the CafĂ© style (and owner of several), I think this is a fabulous creation, the true cost of which will probably never be realised. the sheer amount of manhours  put into the fabrication of one off parts must be enormous !.

Wood, for me, on vehicles, should be left on 100 year old farm implements, I'd much prefer to see that seat fabricated in aluminium.
the usd forks are too big and clunky and imposing on an otherwise slim and lightweight chassis.

and I'd rather see a large single headlight with a nice twin clock binnacle and lose the cowl.

still, a fabulous piece of work, and I'd love to do a track day on it  :D
