Sounds great Tim! I've met Gordon May a couple of times - he's very interesting to talk to, if just a tiny bit eccentric (and this coming from an MZ fan.......)  :D

He is, isn't he. I met him at the 40th anniversary of the REOC last summer. But, as you say, aren't we all! 😁

Which ferry route is best for Shepherds rest? Ignore the unintentional rhyming!

It depends where you are coming from....it's handy for me as I live just off the Wirral and Birkenhead is no distance, then Belfast Port to Six Towns is about an hour, so for me it's about 60 miles to the Shepherds Rest from home.
There is a deal on at present (up to the end of Jan)...20% off and a free upgrade from economy to flexi....job done.
Dave.

Thanks for that, I live in North Notts so that could work for me.

Birkenhead to Belfast is an eight hour crossing and quite an expensive ferry though, especially if you get a cabin on the night crossing.  Very convenient though if you are close to the Wirral.  Other choice is Cairnryan to Belfast.  Much cheaper if you don't mind the ride up to Scotland.  Both options with Stena and both have the 20% discount with free flexible upgrade offer on at moment.

Hi Steve, I've sent DTC (your bike's previous owner) an invite. I met him in France, after the TC rally at Bishops Castle and he asked when the next meet was...so here it is.

Yesterday, I sent a message to Colin to reserve a hardstanding for my old Camper.
I'll take my old DR as I don't think my latest project will be up to the job....a Derbi Terra Adventure fitted with a Zongshen OHC 223cc single.

He should know about it anyway, but thanks.

Good advice for travel. Use Nutt Travel for best deals. In the north, Cairnryan is best bet, as you can have a lovely spin through the Galloway hills/mini highlands.

Wow loads of good travel advice there. If you're still up for the trip Pete what are your thoughts?

Hi Ian,

Yes, definitely still up for it. However, I've had a very sad start to the New Year as my Mom died on New Years Day. As you would expect, it's all been very upsetting and stressful, though once the funeral is out of the way in a couple of weeks and we've got the probate application underway, and the house cleared an on the market, I should be feeling that things are starting to return to normal. Perhaps we could meet up somewhere in mid to late Feb to arrange it all, as you suggested last year?

Every cloud has a silver lining though, and I'm hoping to be able to retire early in the summer - it will give some meaning to Mom's death for me, and I'm sure it would have pleased her.....

Hi Pete

I'm so sorry to hear about your mum passing away and wish you all peace in dealing with the aftermath. Good for you though for finding a way of being positive at a difficult time, it will help.

We will get together but for now good luck with all you have to do.

Very sorry to hear this Pete. Hope by April, things are easier for you, and we'll see you over here, in what is currently a very snowy Ireland.
