Costal ride
« on: April 05, 2007, 08:19:49 AM »
I seem to remember someone posting a message about a round Britain ride. This got me thinking but I cant find the post now. Any ideas who it was.

Thanks Ken

not sure if i posted it here on the forum , but i had this idea since i live in the uk ,
i live in littlehampton, on the coast of west sussex  and a part of littlehampton is called Wick , didnt think about it ,but then i discovered on the weatherforecast i always heard about a wick in scottland , my idea is, was , to ride up on the east cost from wick to wick and on the west coast back including the isle of man and northern ireland , wales and back to littlehampton , but that was a dream i had, because i discovered to do such a ride i would need loads of time and loads of money , because i liked to see something and didn`t want to race against the clock
but now  you brought  me back to this idea  , it could be done cheaper with the help of our members living along the route who have nothing against the idea of accomodating some members  in theire garden or so , for a bbq

i think we should keep that idea in mind for a while , doesn`t have to happen soon , because i planed a at least 3 month  for that so need to safe up a while ,
there is already another plan on ice because of money issues , wanted to do the rally from oslo  to the north cap in second week in february 2008 (thats winter , if its warm temps of around -20 if its cold up to -60)..not the krystal rally , they stop before they reach the north cap there is another rally that does the whole trip ....but not enough savings

Hi There

About 2 MIles from Port Talbot - South Wales coast. Have had a bunch of hairy bikers camping in the garden before - actually thinking about it they slept on the lounge floor.  Plenty of BBQ space etc.  Visitors welcome

Dunfermline, about 1 mile from the Forth Bridge... some room to kip down but you'll have to warn me in plenty time before you arrive so I can be here!! Mind you, the coast road from here to Aberdeen is a stunner :)

Well if you decide to try something post in here. I like to set quiet difficult challenges including such as Oslo but afraid I don't like the cold so winter is out for me. We completed a trip last year. Spalding Linc's, Scott's corner, Oben, Inverness,Pitchlocory,Crew,Thame, Home. Also have Las Vegas and Califorina  on a Harley in Sep

i`m actually quit often in france (nearly every year )most times somwhere near the alps or direction pyrennes or just in the middle between in the carmaque  , france is actually the best country in europe because you can have everything close by
high mountains and the sea ,its cheap , i know some campsites where you pay only under 5  euros the night ,and you realy feel safe on the roads it seems the french are more careful drivers , they give you space and let you pass when ever possible, but everything has his downside i never can get passt lyon without getting into a thunderstorm
i even was tempted to move there, only problem my french is terrible , and the french dont realy like it if they have to speak another language , ok its enough french to get along , sign language with hand and feet helps a lot

back to the coastal ride we should make it in 2009 gives enough time for planning

Just to add more impetus to this idea, there's a coastal village called Wick on the South East Wales coast - very close to a whole gang of TC member's and their favourite curry houses and pubs :)
