Cleaning carb jets
« on: April 05, 2007, 07:03:13 AM »
Ive had a pair of Keihin CR33's for a while now and have finally decided to fit them. The previous owner let the bike sit with fuel in the carbs for a while so the jets are a bit manky but not too bad. I was going to leave them alone but noticed something in Motorcycle Mechanics about using Tomato Ketchup. I squirted some kethchup through the jets and then left them in a bowl of ketchup for a couple of days. I cleaned them off this morning and hey presto some very shiny jets.

Thats a new one . I guess it would be the vinegar in the ketchup that dissolves stuff.

Acetic Acid apparently, does the job. All I need to do is ensure I clean the jets out well before refitting.
