Neither Haynes nor Clymer seem to do a manual for the Freewind I'm afraid Stuart. But it does share the same engine as the DR 650 and also the CCM's so there's info out there. As for the running gear, it was built to a budget and therefore shouldn't have too many nasty surprises, a very good thing in my book. My mate used to have one and used it everyday all year round with very, very few problems.
