MZ Skorpion Sport Handlebars

Hi fella`s.

Does anyone have any easy solutions on fitting higher straighter bars on an MZ Skorp Sport without fouling the fairing brackets? I love riding the bike but after a few miles my back and arms starts to ache a bit. (I know, I know, it`s not the bike, it`s the old bugger riding it  )

I`d like to keep the bike so a cheap easy solution would be appreciated, if not I may consider selling

remember jota bars? not the prettyest solution and by a fair way not the cheapest, but infinately adjustable for height and angle. they will allow you to adjust them till theyre comfy and not fowling the fairing.

Disco Volante is no cheap, but the quality is good and he may be able to offer component parts? He is a UK stockist for these bars that are 'standard' on the various Skorpion models.

I saw your mans blog and notice it was a Traveler he was working on, I wonder if the bracketry on its fairing is the same as the Sport?

We've had this chat on the other list we both use, the problem with the Jota bars, which I use on my BMW, need handlebar clamps.  Skorpion Sport bars are mostly fork high mounted clip ons.

If you can;t source the expensive K1300 helibars consider simply reversing the existing bars, left to right and upside down, taking great care over redrilling for the switchgear.

sorry I didn`t realize it was you I was talking to  Thank you again for your advise.

When I had a quick look, I slackened the big allen screw on the end but all that happened was the whole thing moved on the fork, how does the bar itself come out of the clamp?  Probably being stupid  Did you have to change any cables, brake lines etc?

The big screw does undo the bar itself, but sometimes needs a bit of a shock to help free it off the taper.

I didn't need to swap any cable ets, they all fitted just fine.

I really can't mention the need to calculate the positions of the small holes for the switchgear enough though.  The switches are not equally positioned.  It has raised it just enough to make it comfy rather than a slightly painful stretch (must be my age).

Or there are the helibars which I am told work, but have not seen.  The problem is the high fairing braces, you need to go out as well as up.

I`ll give it a dose of looking at and if I decide to attack it, I`ll take care on the hole drilling  I`ll have to look at my left hand switchgear as one of the screws on it is stripped so it`s a bit slack
