Opinions on paint
« on: March 24, 2007, 01:11:00 PM »
I am in the process of getting my SRX painted. The tank is a bit tatty and now that the frame is satin black the standard SRX is silver is too bright. I spotted a SRX at the Dutch SRX connection Rally last year which was the colour I was looking for
I also quite like the striping but I'm not quite sure what to do.
Option 1 - No stripes, tank, seat panel and mudguard silver as in the picture
Option 2 - Copy the Dutch bike scheme along with a black front mudguard
Option 3 - A single wide stripe with a pinstripe on each side, a bit like this

Your bike so do what you feel happy with........but if it were mine, I'd go for the large stripe with fine pinstripes eitherside, but in a different colour to the main stripe.(sort of highligght colours) Plain wouldn't be an option for me, it's just too boring and shows lack of imagination. I would probably have things off centre too, but thats likely to be cos I'm crap at painting :-)

Problem is I have zero imagination when it comes to non-technical thinhgs like paintwork, music etc. Hence the need for a second opinion

You could do worse than scan the link placed by Hondamicheal. Loads of cool cafe racers, all with interesting ideas on paint. The big problem is how to be different and original without being silly.

How about - Black backgrouns and a sodding great big set of tuning forks and SRX in silver splashed right across the tank - slightly off set? - Or BR gree background and yellow forks?

Or the big broad stripe and the little pin stripes, but set the tuning fork logo as a stream down the stripe - slighly different colours or even decals under the paint so the tuning forks are embossed?
