Hond CB250RS
« on: November 02, 2015, 10:10:58 PM »
As the title suggests I have a lovely RS and will be riding it throughout the winter. In fact I'm planning to do Llanthony and the Dragon next year.
My question is 'In which position is the fuel tap 'ON' for the main tank and which position is for' Reserve'?'
I do have a manual but this information is not there. The plate on the tap is a bit corroded and I cannot see the printing to indicate which is which. I could drain off the tank but that's a bit of a chore so If anyone has the answer can you tell me, unless it's a real secret!
I do know that the tank is 13 litres with 3 litres in reserve and I know that the engine is pretty frugal so I will work out some sort of mileage for my style of riding on the main tank.

Cheers in anticipation Steve
If I'm not working I'll be away on my bike camping!

Hi steve, the fuel tap is ON when the little lever is pointing down I.E. vertically down, reserve is when its pointing UP and off is when the lever is in the horizontal position.
Hope that's clear.

Cheers for that Tevie.
(If I run out of gas can I blame you! :o)

PS any Idea of roughly what you can get out of a tank before reserve?
I've only had one run on her so far so I cannot get an idea of mileage.

Cheers Steve

To be honest its been a long time since ive been on a long run when it was a 250, its been a 500 for about six years now but I seem to recall it doing about 120 miles before going on reserve, they may be frugal but they only carry just under 3 gallons including reserve and 120 miles is all I could manage before 'numb bum' sets in anyway.

Cheers for that, I'm sure i will be able to cope. The last run that i did I recon I got nearly 100 miles for £10 which isn't bad and in 250 guise I recon I'll get quite a few miles more than your 500cc version.

We shall see! :o
