Honda GB250
« on: November 18, 2014, 06:26:19 PM »
So, as I said on the chatter forum, I've just bought one of these for not much money. Its come with a pile of spares, but isn't complete either. I appear to have a mixture of GB250 Clubman series 1 and series 2, also CBX, CB250RS, and some bits I can't identify yet  :P
Also the only paperwork I got was an old tax disc with an English reg from east sussex, and some southern irish paperwork with a County Meath reg, so now the fun starts!

Thanks Tommy. The guy I bought the stuff off had only had it a matter of weeks, but lost interest before he even started. He didn't really know what he had. He had bought the whole lot off a fella in Ashbourne, Co. Meath. The weird thing is, I know of another GB250 locally, with no paperwork, and it is also on a Co. Meath reg. When I looked at the Irish paperwork I have for mine, his Co. Meath reg was written on the back of my paperwork in pencil! The plot thickens  :o Maybe they came from the from the same person originally?

Thanks again Tommy. It probably is the same bike, but if u could check up and see if he has anything left that would be great. The one piece of paper I have gives it as 1988. But then I also have a second frame and engine as well. I suppose im getting ahead of myself, I need to see if the thing runs yet  ;)

Thanks Tommy. The bike on Donedeal is the one I bought. The seller had it on there and Gumtree. Thanks again for your help, and hopefully see you sometime. I'm trying to organise a Thumper gathering in April over the Cookstown 100 wknd in april, so keep an eye on the site for details. Just thinking about your X7, a rare thing now, haven't seen one in years  :'(

So, the only progress on the GB250 front is that I've picked up another two of these wee bikes thanks to a tip off from Tommy in Dublin. One of which is complete. So that's three and a half of the blighters for very little outlay. Though they are all rough and with no paperwork. I'm afraid it'll be a while before I get at them as I've too much xbr stuff to fix up. A really good site to view these bikes and other more obscure Jap stuff is Goobikes. Its a Japanese site with hundreds of bikes for sale  :)

Timbo, Would you possibly have a spare rear brake plate assy (GB250). I am doing an XBR conversion and have aquired a rear wheel from GB250 less the brake assy.
I am in UK.
Thanks
Edit, cancel that. Having paid for the wheel i was informed that it had sold earlier and ebay hadn't updated the page.

Hi Silver, just in case you still persue a GB250 rear wheel, here's a pic of of a brake plate. As you can see, it has a shaped channel which engages with a raised portion on the GBs swinging arm.

Silver, just found this on Ebay - it's from a CBF250 but looks pretty similar. Ebay 261790948361 £17 buy it now. Obviously you'd need to check first if it was the same - Wemoto may be able to tell you.

Thanks for the help. am currently building up a front wheel based on CB250RS. As my bike is low mileage and the back brake runs true, i think i will make some plates up and get a rim and make it up from the XBR hub, that will save having to change so much. I'll get some stainless plates cut and drill them myself.
