What a pig of a job that was getting them out! 
Finally being able to remove the float bowl(a job which is less than 5 sec on a Z200 from the 70's but a flippin' epic on an 80's MuZ!!) tells a story though

Hopefully cleaning this gunk out of the bowl and fighting the carbs back into the teeny weeny gap they sit in will see a return to a working Skorp...

Hmmm, on removing the "secret" filter from above the float needle seat, I found it full of unidentified white goop (now removed), I wonder where else there is contamination...

Pleased to read that you have progress and no doubt a drop more of the white flakes than we have here at present. Gets better as you go north and west.

Lol, I think he's been living in that carb! The really confusing part is that the snot was after the filter but the rest of the tube was clear...
It's like Ice Station Zebra back home but surprisingly mild elsewhere (for now...)

Make sure you clean the emulsion tube in the CV carb, it sits above the main jet and is easily missed.

Though I may need a stiff dram and a lie down after perusing the parts prices 

£12 if I want the silly wee rubber gasket for the float bowl and the best part of a grand for a carb  for that sort of money you could consider homebrewing a fuel injection system! (Not that I have either that kind of money lying around nor the time for such a project lol)

SWMBO and Smudge minor were out today so I finally got a morning in the garage 
Cleaned carb refitted (what a pig that is for access!  and a funnel full of petrol put in, fired up first push of the button and running like a little sewing machine 

Next to (find time to) flush the tank out, procure an inline filter and refit the tank, bodywork etc etc

Well tank has been drained and dried out and I've learned that if you leave unleaded in plastic tanks is makes the plastic swell (so the tank is a git to re-fit) and can cause the paint to bubble :-( not just expensive the fuel nowadays, it's sh1te in a range of ways!!
But tank dry and refitted anyway, just finished cleaning and refitting the side/rear bodywork and now retiring to a hot bath with a large single malt and a good history book. A good evening!
