SRX exhaust
« on: February 19, 2007, 10:01:24 PM »
Have just got a replacement end can for my 400. Does anyone know where I can get a 'Y piece' for the down tubes in order to replace standard exhaust?

Boyd
PS Don't assume that this means I've sorted the electrical gremlins, as I haven't. It was just what I was looking for, I really NEEDED it, it was cheap on eBay, and I couldn't help myself - OK?

Mini Thumper, I would be interest to know which end can you went for, where you bought it and how much and if it would be suitable for the 600 SRX. Any information on other options would be gratefully received.

Hello Boyd-

I think I have one...  Believed supertrapp.  No seen it for a while, but should prolly be able to dig it out.

The racer has a supertrapp one (2-1 big pipe), and this one looks similar, but may be home made.  I've never used it, but got it from a set of old pipes, possibly from Martyn?

I'll send you some photos?  And dimensions.

Now for the blag!  Oh no- he don't give away nothin for nothin!!

Could you see yourself to finding some 4 or 6 mm ally?  I want to make 2 flat triangular firing brackets.  Which I will bolt "bobbins" (eh?) onto to mount the lower fairing.  I will hang the plate from the 2 front engine mounts.  This will then take QD  R-clips.

I have made usable but very flimsy ones in angle ally, 1.5mm

I could send you dimensions (he hinted) ...

Drop me a line if you're interested, or I'll try and send you some photos

Cheers for now!  speak soon

a

(and if you can't swipe any ally, dont go and buy some!!  you can still have it if I've got it!)

Answering two questions at once:

1st.   bobajob  Its a race can off a CBR400. Should be OK just need to fabricate/blag the connections.

2nd.  andy230  As I'm leaving my current job soon (16.3.07) I would be only too happy to make use of their facilities. Drop me what measurements you have, or a diagram, and I'll see what I can do. With regards to the exhaust, I'm really only after the 'Y piece' and connecting pipe, not the whole exhaust. If on the other hand it would fit mine then I help move it out of your way.

Chief-

Its only the Y piece I have... (or think I have).  Its about 12-15 inches I reckon.  But I dont like to boast....

The link pipe, and headers I dont have.  "This blag is for the Y-piece only, not the whole bike" as they say on Crook-bay.

But this is better cos I think its been a wee bit modded, but if you are going to get the hacksaw/pipe bender out then thats fine.

Send you pics asap.  Cheers

a

ps. thanks!  Old junk for "requisitioned" ally.  I love it

 "Old junk for "requisitioned" ally."

Wealth relocation and distribution a speciality. And as you so rightly said "it is only the Y-piece that I want".
