I think the wetter is getting crazy lately. So, hard to tell this year. I have been there with temperatures between – 19 and + 6  Celsius (last year, I think, Mark? It started snowing after you had left) Sometimes with a lot of snow and it was hard to get off the site and you had to wait till the roads were cleared, other years with mud and rain or completely dry.

The Nürbürgring is located in the hills (about 700m), so many times you ride to it in relative warm weather and over dry roads. Once you arrive in the hills, you feel it gets colder and there’s snow.  It “can” be real cold, when there’s a lot of wind. Especially on the camp spots up the hill.
It’s like the Elefanten in Bavaria. Sometimes cold and snow, sometimes not.

Opposite to the Dragon and Elefanten Bavaria, you can have a hot shower and most of  the toilet buildings have floor heating as well, since it’s located on a winter camping site, next to the circuit. And it’s clean.

Klick for movie I made of the AET 2009

I need some feed back.  :o

I know what Mark and mates are going to do. Need a chair, Mark?

Not sure about others? Tim, Jethro, others......

My plans are to ride on Thursday morning, arriving around noon. Motorway to Germany. Taking the B 258 from Aachen to the Nuerbuergring.

Plan of the Site.

Not sure where to camp. Probably pitch 21 or pitch 6.

Best thing about plans, you can ignore them.  ;D

This is the location in google maps, where you have to go to. (copy/paste)

Camping am Nürburgring 42, 53520 Müllenbach, Deutschland (Camping am Nürburgring)

Best ride, from the Motorway just below Aachen you take the B 258, and just ride…

Richard, If you can manage a chair as well as the beer that'd be great. ;D

I'm stopping in Bruges on wednesday night, then onto the site thursday hoping to get there by 1-2pm.

Taking the same road but coming off the autobahn a couple of junctions earlier and cutting across to join up with it.

Will need to pick up some fresh meat at a supermarket for the goulash and the grill.

Mark.

Looking forward to this trip, ferry booked, plans to see Mr and Mrs RichardNL.

Once again thwarted ! My Fathers turn to have a trip to hospital.
He has done some damage to his knee so unable to walk.
Therefore unable to do anything.

I'll have to stay close by and keep an eye on both my parents.

I think they are ganging up on me to stop me going away and camping in the snow.
Have laid the law down.....they are not allowed to be ill in July,I want to go to Ireland !

Dont do anything I wouldnt do guys  ;)

Sorry to hear that matey, you and your folks aren't having a good run of it.

Hope all is well soon.

Sorry to hear this, but quite understandable, you´re not going.  :'( Hope the best for you all.

Had a great weekend camping at the Nurburgring in the company of TC members Tim and Richard-NL along with two mates in the company of the usual German crowd we now meet with.

Weather was milder than usual although the ground was quite frozen with remnant of snow a layer on mud soon formed in areas that were well used.

Great food, drink and hospitality, although some regulars were missed it'd be good try again next year.

Hopefully Richard may get some but not all of his photos up.

Just one now, Mark.  ;)

It was a great long weekend. Enjoyed it very much, although there wasn´t any snow.

Great people, great cooking. Pink eyes. Pitch 21 .......

Great meeting

Sorry not to see Jethro there, commiserations mate, hope the parents get well soon.

Managed to do Somerset to Nurburgring in less than 12 hours, average speed 60-70 on Autobahns.

Very hospitable people.

Fastest time of the day up the hill next to our pitch was 48 kph on an outfit, Richard reckons he can do it at 50 kph! See next year!!

Only fly in the ointment was Wales cheating us at the Rugby!!
