Some pics Motorang made of the new automatic toll gate before the Toll Road (Maut strasse). Hut and lady are gone. Some people call that `progress`.  :-X :o

It will be open on the TT weekend, and we have to pay only once to Andy. (Price went up though, but with the automatic toll gate, it would be 6 Euro for every trip.)

Both Motorang and Knepta  couldn´t get started after they paid and the gate opened and they had to push the outfits past the pole in order to mount snowchains, even with the Immler tires and spikes. Allways advisable to do that in Hohentauern at the parking lot.

Pics are from last weekend.

Simon and Mark will. They will leave my place Monday morning.

Peter and I will leave Tuesday morning at 07.00 hrs from NL and will be going in one straight line over the Autobahn with two  DuoDrives to the Elephant Rally.
Wait for us for `tea` at the Sheep shed.

Keksi, Thomas (Stuecki), Phillip among others, like Peter from Muensterland will already be there

We will arrive in time. ETA just before it gets dark.

Ride safe, everyone.

Reminder to me: clean up the garage. You need room for three extra sidecars.

Mark and Simon arrived here in NL at 16.00 hrs. Allthough it rained here almost all day, they didn´t have a drop.  ;)

How is Simon getting on with his new outfit?

So far so good on the sidecar front. Just taking it easy, especially with left turns. Handling well over here too: can take my hand off the bar at 60 with no problems. First big test I think be the road up from the autobahn to the Elefant rally site tomorrow.

Phew! that's a relief. Just take it easy on the corners and the ride to the Elefant site will be a doddle. You may even enjoy it  ;) The only real worry on those roads is the fact that on a British outfit the bike is on the kerb side of the road... which can mean you are uncomfortably close to steep drops into a forest  :o Take those left handers real slow and remember that the chair really won't tip over even if it comes up faster than expected. Be brave  ;)

Note to those who don't know the story - I built Simon's outfit for him, but due to my usual far-too-relaxed attitude (and my fabricator's unexpected two week absence before Christmas) it didn't get finished until 8 days before departure. I set it up to cope with the opposite camber on continental roads but there is no way of knowing how well the outfit performs until you're there. If I had got it wrong then Simon would have been riding for nearly 1,700 miles with the bike trying to pull in one direction, which is incredibly hard work and will bugger up your shoulder and arm muscles a treat.
All of which doesn't help the fact that this is Simon's first sidecar ride  :o

Guys - all of you have a safe and enjoyable ride

Lucky Buggers !

I know there is Sh1t Loads of snow just over the border in Czechoslovakia not far from Bavaria.
So I imagine there will be plenty for both the ET and TT.

At the moment the entry to the TT toll road is critical. It has been thawing last week. At the moment there´s  a five centimeter ice layer underneath the snow. Furthermore, both the snow blowers of the municipality as the innkeeper have broken down. The toll road is just a single road now. No passing or control rides possible. :o

(according to the latest information of people that are already there)

It´s gonna be fun.  ;) Probably will have to put on the snow chains in Trieben.

Simon texted on Tuesday night and said that they had arrived at the Elefant Rally and had ridden down to the bottom of the site (with a promise of a tow up when they leave). Anyone who has been there will know how steep and snowy the track to the bottom is.

I think they are leaving for the Tauerntreffen today. There they face the challenge of riding up the toll road (as pictured earlier in this thread).

Good luck guys

Simon texted tonight to say that they had made it to the Tauerntreffen. They are now on their way back. He says that he's a lot more confident riding on snow now, but he still needs practice on left handers.
