Does anybody know if you can use Kurust rust treatment on exhaust downpipes? You know, that stuff that turns rust blue? I can't find any info on how it behaves with high temps. Has anybody tried it?

Cheers,

Aye Dave,

Works fine, may need more than one application and will then require finishing/protective paint/coating without breaking the surface of 'pacified' metal you've just created.  ;D

My regards, Bill.

Thanks Bill

That's just what I wanted to hear. I've done the Kurust and I have some VHT matt black to go on top. Hopefully it'll last a while  :)

Cheers,

Aye Dave,

If you can bake or get somebody to bake the VHT for you rather than relying on exhaust to do the job, this will improve the longevity of the coating. I've a supportive wife for these eventualities,  :-* :-* :-* so the fan oven is pressed into service if the exhaust bits will fit!  ;D ;D ;D  S*d the 18 pound turkey!!!! I am toying with the idea of a ceramic coating job, BUT, life in general is preventing m/cycle tinkering!  ???

However, last night another 'early retirement' from the Agency I work for, meant that Sally had a good canter in the dark. The Tahli wasn't bad either, with a garlic nan, to mop up with! ;D

My regards, Bill.

Yup, life's like that. It has a habit of getting in the way of the fun stuff. I told myself this bike would be ready for Easter - Not a chance!

It's doubtful this thing will fit in my oven, I'll try and cram it in in the morning when my Missus is out. I'm guessing it'll stink the kitchen out for an hour or so!

Beer and wheel painting tonight, I'm getting there, slowly  :)

Thanks for the help,

Dave B
