SRX600 kick start

Anybody know of a kickstart lever that will fit onto the shaft? Mine is cracked and nearly dropping off. Abit loathed to find out from mr yamaha how much a new one will cost. Other wise is DK my best bet for a secondhand one?

The splines on the SRX have quite a fine pitch, I'm not aware of anything else that uses the same pitch. This was covered ina previous post, Mark mentions fitting an XT kickstart, HERE. I have never tried it myself.

The srx kickstart lever is now unobtanium from yamaha....
The XT (early) 600 lever has the same splines, and a pinch bolt.
You will need to 'V' grind the pinch slot, fit to the shaft, tighten the bolt up until you can 'just' pull the lever off the splines, with it fitted, tack weld the outer edge of the slot, pull off the splines, remove the bolt, weld slot completely (but not right down to the splines), then grind off as much of the bolt lobe as you need  to achieve clearance to the cases when the lever is in full depression.

Here ( is a pic of a bike I have in for repair, not sure what bike the lever came off, it was an XT of some sort, but all that was needed on this on, was to grind odd an angle on the bolt head.

The XT lever is no where near as elegant as the srx one, and doesn't rest in the correct place, bu it does work ok.

not sure if its any use but the kick start mechanism for the xt600 and SRX are interchangeable.if you can't get a SRX one you may be able touse the XT internals and put an XT kickstarter on. Not sure how this would work with clearances and the such, but worth a go if you have the bits lying about. I did the swap the other way. xt600 motor with srx kickstarter internals and kicker.sorry dont have the old internals any more.
