hi steve thats what i was thinking but checked the oil and it seems to be at the right level at the upper end of the dip stick might give frop the level though and see if it helps.

It sounds like the same problem I had with mine when I overfilled it.  The oil has to be a measured amount - if there's too much it will "wet sump" on you.

Take some oil out, then get the engine warmed up.  Stand the bike upright with the engine running for half a minute then stop it and check the level on the dipstick (without it screwed in).  This will give the proper reading of how much is in there.

As long as the non-return valve is working ok (it's on the inside of the r/h casing) then it shouldn't 'wetsump' but TJ is correct about the oil levels.....take the bike for a run, then let it stand for 10 mins, then, with the bike upright (not leaning on the sidestand) check the level...i always check the level after the dipstick has been screwed in (or at least make an allowance if you are dipping it without screwing it in/out)

i dropped some of the oil today but its still smoking think i will check spark plug see if it is oiled up ....and then do complete oil change if that proves negative....could it be valve problem though i thought that tended to give a blue smoke....or maybe petrol problem water in tank?

Is it the same when the bike has thoroughly warmed up, did it do it prior to the oil change?
