Hi Guys,

Been away from the forum due to a new work contract.

Anyway, the UK 2nd XT500 meet is happening in 2 weeks at the Baskerville Hall Hotel Clyro just outside Hay on Wye on Fri 14 - Sunday 16th May 2010.

The event is aimed at getting as many XT/SR/TT/HL machines in the UK ever.  Last year we had about 23 bikes this year we hope to have even more.  We have about 10 people from overseas attending.  Most of us are camping but some of the guys are slumming it in the hotel.

I am sure we must have a few owners/riders of said machine lurking on this forum.  If so and you would like to come along please do.

Our rideout on the Saturday leaves about the Baskerville at approx 10.30am  travelling down through Llangorse to Abergavenny (Tstop) Skirrid Mountain Inn (lunch) llanthony Priory (photos) over the mountains into Hay on Wye before going back to the Baskerville.

If you think this is for you ring me on 07538 720770 or email me at alunws@btinternet.com

I will be at the Cardiff show the week before and will come over to the stand for a yap.

See you very soon

Will

Will, I'd also be interested in coming to the event if other bikes are allowed, the closest I can get to an XT is my SRX600.

As per SteveD, let me know if booking is required.

Hi Guys,

Steved, XT660Z Tenere no probs, there will be a few variants of the XT there plus a few non Yamaha models. Mark bring the SRX no probs.

The meeting has been planned to assemble as many of the Yamahs 500 single as possible, but we would welcome people with a passion for this model.

I have added the info from the XT500 forum below in blue as posted.

After discussion with Bob upon taking some valued points aboard, we have decided to move the venue of next years XT meeting back to the Baskerville Hall Hotel, Clyro, Hay on Wye. Why have we done this? to give people more choice of hotel accommodation as the other venue had only 6 rooms. Bob and I never selected the change of venue to alienate members travelling to the event, it was just one we made given comments we received from some members at this years meeting on some noise issues due to the hotel disco.

So this is what we have planned: The Baskerville Hall looked after us well this year, letting us have free use of their large bar-b-q, benches and seats, cold stored our bar-b-q food and breakfast goods and allowing us to put up the marquee, light a fire and rev our bikes lots (Bob!!)

Bob and I at our own expense have been down to the Baskerville Hall this weekend, and feel this is the most suitable venue, and we have looked at dozens.

The Manager has stated the disco will always be a Saturday night feature, and they make people aware of this, however rooms on the far side of the hotel are much quieter.

UK's 2nd Internationall XT meeting Friday 14th - Sunday 16th May 2010:

Main meeting Venue

The Baskerville Hall Hotel
Clyro
Hay-on-Wye
Powys
Wales
HR3 5LE

+44 (0)1497 820033

www.baskervillehall.co.uk

Standard rooms from £39.00 per person per night (bed and breakfast)

Additional Venue

This year we also have selected an additional venue for those that might be bringing wives or their children and would prefer somewhere a little less vibrant. The venue is called the Baskerville Arms and is located just 1/2 mile down the road in the village of Clyro. Bob and I stayed there Saturday night, good food, and quieter (but the fun will be at the campsite)

The standard twin/double rooms in the Baskerville Arms are £79 per room per night bed and breakfast (2010 rates).

The Baskerville Arms

Please note both Hotels must be booked direct, a deposit will be required by the hotels to secure your room, book early to secure your room.

Meeting cost
£15.00 per person to include Sat/Sun breakfast, Sat lunch stop (continental style) and Sat eve Bar-b-q. (Bargain!!)

Camping is £6.00 per person per night, free use of hotel showers and toilet facilities. Campers will be responsible for paying for their own camping direct to the Baskerville Hall Hotel on their day of arrival.

As we did this year there will be prize giving on the Saturday night along with a few fun activities.

This year we are looking for a few volunteers to help on the weekend to set up the marquees, a couple of cooks for the bar-b-q, and setting up the breakfasts etc.

T-shirts will be made available at a cost on the weekend, they are not included in the entry price.

Entry forms will need to be completed and returned along with full payment by the end of February 2010. The forms will be available from me or Bob in the next couple of weeks, email either of us and we will email the form to you.

Will: alunws@btinternet.com Bob: robert.bednarek@ntlworld.com

So Thumper clubs fellas
If you are camping you should be able to turn up and pay on the weekend, hotel accomodation will need to be pre booked asap.

I would like names of people attending plus what bikes they are bringing by the 7th of may, just so as I can gauge room for when setting up the camp area on the Friday morning, plus to ensure we order sufficient meat from the butchers for the barbq.

If you want to take advantage of the full weekend there is a cost of £15 per person to cover the breakfasts (sat/Sun) lunch stop Sat and Sat evening bar b q.  If you just want the bar b q it will be £7 per person.

Bring your own beer if you want but the bar in the Baskerville will have plenty to go round.

We will be selling Tshirts, fleeces mugs and stickers on the day if anyone fancies anything.

It should be a great weekend, I have ordered the sunshine.

will

Alright Will, is it ok for people just to drop by, or is it more of an organised run thing?

hi shedbrewed, yes it is an organised event,  we are trying not to make it too open as it will water down the fact  it is an XT500 meeting. Saying that there are several of the forum boys coming along.

We have about 12 guys and XT's coming over from Germany/Belgium and want to give them a good welcome with lots of XT/SR/TT/HL models.

If u can make it come along the cost is as in my posting further back.

Just got back from this meeting. Went up with Ifor and arrived the same time as Steved and Crusty. Boyd and Martin came in an hour later.

A good set up, nicely organised and a good welcome to us 'thumpers' by all the XT boys. Got on well with europeans and their Duvel. ;D

Cracking weather and a good ride out on the saturday stopping in Abergavenny, Skirrid Mountain Inn, Llanthony priory, top of mountain overlooking Hay and back to the site.

Fine weather again this mornig for breakfast and a leisurely ride home.

Cheers to XTWill for his hospitality.

Well done Ifor on your trophy 8)
