Dragon Rally 2011
« on: February 17, 2010, 11:53:02 AM »
Can I just put it on the record that my brother and I intend riding to next year's Dragon Rally on C90s.

To this end, if anyone hears of a C90 going for the right price then please let us know, it's going to take ages to get a sidecar on one as it is...  :D :D :D :D

In fact we'd like to throw down the gauntlet and challenge all to attend on a C90 or similar unsuitable machine. It is the 50th after all  ;)

I will probably have better things to waste my money on,besides riding to the Dragon on a C90 with be very easy, how many C90's do we see every year,  and the novelty would soon wear off, lets see if this actually comes to fruition

Well, if Gareth is involved these things generally see the light of day. I just fancy doing something different (for me) and given that we should be able to snaffle a C90 in the low hundreds then this should be easy and cheap to do. Some of the other options we considered are considerably more expensive. I imagine we would be able to recoup some of our costs after the rally by selling the remains of the vehicles on.

I'm not sure our desire is to do anything different or groundbreaking, we just talked about seeing the C90s at the rally this year and thought it sounded like a laugh. There's also the side issue of the C90 being possibly the biggest selling thumper of all time so there's a club tie-up there.

I think the point still stands that it being the 50th rally should, where possible, prompt an effort to turn up on something interesting.

Have you seen the price of C90s recently ?

I've seen some going for over £2K.

Ridiculous.

I suppose everyone is entitled to their own views. But some people don't publicly ridicule the Chairman's ideas.......

But to be fair, some of my ideas do need ridiculing to bring me to my senses. :D :D

However, in this case, I'll stick to my contention that having a silly plan is worth every penny of a couple of hundred quid, especially if you can sell it all on again on Ebay (with 'Rare' Dragon Rally provenance  :D).

Mind you, as I pointed out to my brother, we could leave the oil-dripping wrecks of two C90s up in North Wales with a pretty clear conscience if we had to ;)

Did it get there? Yes.  ;D

Did it get me back ? Yes ;D

Did it provide me with a great adventure, topped off with a great ride home, Yes.  ;D

Given the choice between this and a C90, No contest. End of.  :-*

Rather than leave them there Gc , ride them back and park them next to the Jawa.
Failing that, why not take the Jawa next year, it'll be running by then.
