srx600 exhaust
« on: February 07, 2010, 02:18:46 PM »
Hi,
I started the srx600 up today to get it ready for the MOT only to find a gaping hole on the under side right at the back next to the weld. I have taken it off to see if it can be welded. Does anyone have any suggestions, I really like look of the original system but they do seem to be prone to rot. Is there a good replacement, does anyone have one in a shed somewhere?
Thanks Christine

Aye chippit,

Sorry to read about the 'black hole'!  ???

Plating might be the answer, I am sorry, I do not have a buckshee silencer to offer. You never know, one of the other 'loons' on the site might have one gathering funnel spiders! ;)

I hope you get the exhaust sorted soon.

My regards, Bill.

The local bike shop have suggested a predator exhaust system as it is impossible to get an original replacement.
Would I need to alter the carbs, are they very loud?

Aye chippit,

Pricey, but not as much as a BSM from David Silver, Leiston, Suffolk, same dealer who does all the Honda stuff.

Link to Dave Silver's site: BSM Exhaust

I've never used a Predator, but others have experience and have written about it on the site. Try a search of this site, using the facility, two thirds up the righthand side of this page.

Alternative would be to either trawl Fleabay or see if there is a custom maker in your area.

This is the Predator manufacturers offering on Fleabay at present: 310196794061

My regards, Bill

Hi Chippit
Link to Predator exhaust here :-

http://www.predatorexhaust.co.uk/shop/category_59/Yamaha-Road-Bike-Exhausts-Road-Legal.html?shop_param=cid%3D%26

Hope this helps (seems quite reasonable when compared with a BSM)

Ian :)

Father in law has one on his xbr- sounds nice, quite deep and loud enough with the baffles in, you can specify removeable baffles when you have it made (no extra i don't think) www.gazbikes.co.uk .You will need to specify road legal.

You can hear an xbr with predator here-

cheers

John

Dont know if its too late but if you need something quick for the MOT i have an original silencer which should pass - though its nothing to look at... free +P&P.

Thats it btw...

It looks like the pipes would be loose but one is fine and I replaced the sleave in the other when I used it to pass an mot.

I fancied putting either a "Goldie" silencer or, if you want to retain a similar appearance to stock, a short reverse cone mega.

For custom exhausts, you could try
