1983 honda xl600

hi guys, great site, i'm hoping your experience can help me here, i have an 83 XL600 and i cant get my head round the ignition system, the ingnition lead isn't like a cars HT lead, almost like theres parts missing, can anyone tell me if theres any adaptor goes on the spark plug or sumthing? cheers lads.

There should be a lead and a spark plug cap. Can you take a picture to show us what you mean.

after trawling the net and looking at dozens of pics, i've educated myself as to what the problem was, it was me, haha, i was holding the spark plug cap the wrong way, i now realise which end the lead goes in, so its back together and im hoping to get it running this week, but thanks for replying
