Srx Running Problems

Need some advise. Got the Srx600 started at last, carbs cleaned and jets replaced.
Now the problem is once the bike starts it runs for up to about 5 mins then dies. Then the bike will not start, no matter how many times you kick. Leave it till the next day and it does the same again.
Any ideas?

Try replacing the coil.....I had a similar problem with a 400 last year. I was convinced it was fuel , but tried the coil as a last gasp thing and hey presto..success!

yup, coil, or fuel, when it stops, check if there is fuel in the float chamber.......try running it with the fuel tap on prime, or bypass the tap completely

I have changed the coil for one i have of a spare bike i got a few weeks ago and there i a good spark from it at the plug so im kinda thinking it's a fuel problem now?
just a thought here would the length of fuel pipe from the tank to the tap be a problem. The guy who put the new engine in put new pipes on and they are slightly wider and are about two times the length of the old ones.
They run down and then back up to the tap.

to see if its a fuel problem you can....1 start it with the fuel filler cap open. if it starts and stays running then its the breather in the filler cap.2 run it with the tap turned to PRI or the prime postion.this means the tap wont rely on the vacume to open the tap.3 disconnect the pipe from the tap to the carb and place a funnel in the pipe, fill it with fuel and give it a go. this would mean any blockage in the tap would have no effect.4 finally get a piece of clear pipe and attach it to the float boat drain spout. then take the tube and elevate the pipe above the carb without bending the pipe. then undo the float drain screw a couple of turns so petrol can be seen. this will show you the correct level of fuel in the carb and will show if you run out. hope this helps.

The pipes sound like a likely cause, try running it of a seperate tank if possible like this

I took the tank off the bike and set up a funnel with fuel straight to the carb. Nothing didn't even try to catch.
Tried both coils and still nothing. (Did not start once tonight)
Battery flat now so i will start again tomorow

Try jump leads off a car battery as well..it will give you more cranking time to sort the problem too

Just a thought, If it runs for about 5mins then stops and won't start, could be this;
Starts , empties float bowl which hasn't refilled. Once you manage to start it and it stops check if any fuel in the carb?.
Just a thought.

hi, me again.... just a copy of my old post:

another thing you might want to check is the resistance of the pick up for the ignition. when the resistance is out of the guide lines it will still start the bike but it will fail when hot and then start again when cold. i had this problem with the 250. woth checking.

Im in Ireland.
Got it started this evenig with the funnel.
The engine fired up and went for about 15 mins this time so a little improvement.
The revs slowly get slower and slower until finally you cannot stop it from dying.
The plug it black afterwards. cleaned up and put back in nothing again.Still a good spark as well.
How do i check the choke, i have looked at the connector part and the cable is moving smoothly there.?
How do i check the ignition resisstance?
