CB250RS carb info please
« on: October 31, 2009, 06:10:39 PM »
Here's one that I don't think is in the Haynes manual!

Just took off the float bowl of my (roughish) RS.

It has always leaked a bit, and has a small bolt stuck up the rubber overflow tube, otherwise petrol pours out.

Anyway, float height & valve sealing seems fine, but brass tube that allows petrol overflow if floats don't float is missing , presumed snapped off! Anyone know how tall this tube should be? I have spare CX carbs and hope it's same diameter of pipe, but would be nice to get length right!!! Height abovegasket face would be useful info please!!!

Ta!

Brendan,

Apologies work interfered with essential bike stuff. Will try again tomorrow.

I would guess it is a couple of mm mre than float height.  But then the operative word is guess.

Just measured my spare carb. and the overflow tube is 6mm above the level of the gasket.

Cheers Boyd.

Got sidetracked by XS 11 front brakes.

Thank-you folks! Have tomorrow morning off work, so after I replace the CX choke cable...

...although I did have a text from a friend whose colleague is interested in a not-quite-running RS. Hmmmmmm!!
