I just need to pick the brains of the other XBR riders in the club for a bit of info here.
My XBR has been (and still is fingers crossed) the picture of reliability and so, apart from changing spark plugs and setting valves, I've never really had a lay a spanner on it.
Now this winter I want take the outer crankcases off to respray or possibly polish them as the paint is now starting to look very grotty
My question is, is removing the crankcases on an XBR as simple as removing kickstarter/ decompressor/ brackets etc and unbolting or is it a bit more complicated ? Is anything liable to ping off into the darkest recesses of my garage or will I need any pullers or special tools?
I will be cleaning the internal oil filter gauze and checking the clutch while I'm at it - anything else worth checking?
Finally I presume new gaskets are going to be required?
Any tips and hints gratefully received.
Cheers
