Well, yes, a taper bearing head set is a good idea, had mine on for 8 years, trouble and almost maintenance free.
you can get progressive springs for the forks , coupled with a new set of seals (i reccommend yamaha seals....not had a lot of joy with aftermarket jobs) and some 15 grade fork oil, makes a great job of improving the front end.
A set of Hagon shocks at the back look good and work very well, i suppose the whole kit and caboodle is going to set you back 160 to 200 notes, or look on fleabay, and the TC for sale area, may be some bargains to be had.
