Cheers for that. The battery is not the best i know that but there should be enough juice in it to power the netural light etc. What other things could cause the problem could it be the recifier?

Is this a twinshock SRX600 ?. If so the charging and ignition systems are seperate so your poor starting is unlikley to be due to a poor battery. That said Ive spoken to several people who are adamant it does make a difference.
A weak bubbling noise from the battery doesnt sound good, if you disconnect the red wire from battery when the ignition is turned on do you get a spark from the red wire to the battery wire ? These a fuse inline with the battery does that need resetting ?

Hi Steve
It is a twin shock srx never had any problems until now. I havent seen a spark at all at the battery i will check again tonight when im  home. I know the battery is not the best but it usually kicks back into life once the bike starts but at the momnet i cant get the thing started. There is a spark at the plug but it a weak one to me (im no mechanic) and i dont think it sparks on every kick either- Should it? Where abouts is the inline fuse the only on i found was right next to the battery and that one looks fine.

The fuse next to te battery is more of a circuit breaker and looks like part number 14 in the diagram below. It has a red button on it which I assume you need to push to reset it.

Hi Steve

Where should/would that be located on the bike?
The one that is on mine is just a 15amp fuse wth a connector each side to make the circuit and it right next to the battery.

Regards

Colin

Hi Steve there is no spark from the red wire to the battery. I have power at the front light. Could it be the run switch?

I have power going to the ignition switch (2 pin), am i correct in saying that once the key is turned on -  the other lead that connects to the ignition switch (6 pin) should become live to power everthing else?

have a quick look at the kill switch and the side stand switch before you get too involved. they are often over-looked and can cause all kinds of strange symptoms.

just spraying with wd40 could be enough to drive out the crap and clean the contacts. other wise try flicking the kill switch, or pushing it down when already in the 'run' position. two of my recent bikes have had kill switches that can cut the engine when you just brush them (still in the 'on' postion). might be beacuse i never use the kill switch, too much riding brit bikes- they are all too keen to cut out ;)

Colin,

Is this an import or UK spec bike. Imports dont usually have an engine number just 1JK and UK bikes have an engine number starting with 1XL. The ignition wiring is different between the two.

Hi

Electric problem solved bogus connection and a good battery got rid of that one.

Now  when i try to start i have a very good spark and all light work great. the bike however still refuses to start, plenty of new fuel.. It's like it's flooded all the time and after around 3 kicks there is a strong smell of fuel. I have taken the plug out and that is wet also. I dry it off and put it back in it tries to start on the first kick then it seams flooded again.
Would this be the carbs need balancing ?

Any help would be great
