Looks bloody fantastic Jules, wish I was a few years younger, are you going out there?, I love the Tyrol in those conditions but have always stayed in a hut and skied.

Looks like fun! Doubt I'll be able to afford it this year though if my house move goes through :(

I'm hoping to do the Eleffant and Tauerntreffen again next year though. Anyone else?

That and budgets are why you wont see me at the Dragon this year  :-\ the rally is fun but the best part of 1,000miles of UK motorway in the rain most definately isn't  :(

Looking forward to my Birthday pissup in November though  ;) 8)

HHmm,
hasn't rained in the last two years, you live 500 miles north of Snowdonia??

Ok, my exaggeration, 350ish each way... so only 700 ish miles, if it was only 150 odd miles I'd probably go every year, but it's not so I don't. Oh and on every occasion I've been to the Dragon it's rained on at least part of the trip, just 'cause the site and it's vicinity is dry doesn't mean no rain ;-) bottom line though is I ride my bike because I enjoy riding on roads with nice views or nice corners or ideally both. (Easily) Six or seven hours down to the Dragon fails on both counts. So although it's a fun rally the fun doesn't justify the aggro more than very occasionally. Oh and I'm thoroughly "over" motorway riding  ;) I only mention the reason for my non attendance to avoid club members making the mistake of thinking I don't / didn't enjoy the rallies. To those who enjoy the trip, crack on, I hope you continu to enjoy it for many years to come.

That's one of the drawbacks of the Dragon being a one-nighter, some riders find it a long way to go to chuck up a tent, get drunk, sleep, come home. Perhaps we should start petitioning the Conwy club to make the 50th Rally a two-day event  ;)

That's two members not using the motorway ???

If not for the motorway i and alot of others on European treks would be going nowhere unless we had a week or two to get there and back,we all hate riding the bloody things, but i certainly wouldn't let it stop me doing what i enjoy most,i don't know about anybody else but when I'm riding in the harshest and most severe weather,be it cold(very),wet, heat, hail, high wind or blinding snow,i don't want to stop and say oh bugger this,i want to keep going,i don't care how cold it is,how wet or hot i am,i just want to keep going,I'm very vocal in these conditions(except heat)I'm laughing and challenging the weather to do its worst, for me its a huge buzz.

I'm going to stop now :-[

Lol, oh I'll use it if I *have* to, but given any sort of practical choice I'll avoid it. Eg. Next time I drag my sorry a**e down to the Dragon I'll see a bit of motorway, but that will be endured in order to achieve the good bits, I certainly don't do the motorway for pleasure! I wont let it stop me doing what I want, it just gets included in the mental cost/benefit calculation done before I commit to another trip  ;) :)

Too be honest I quite like motorway hauling. I pop myself into the left hand lane and empty my head. Bike finds its own way and I get to chill out. I've a whole host of games to play to pass the time and I rarely have to worry about setting up corners or dodging cars. Have been known to miss the odd exit mind, but it just adds to the experience.

Obviously A/B roads are best when you can properly enjoy them, but who hear hasn't got wound up at some point by a caravan trail or convoy of lorries?

What I really, really don't like is having to be somewhere by a certain time, especially if that means pushing things. Just spoils the whole journey experience.

Me, when I'm on the bike I smile like a cheshire cat every time I meet one, because I know passing them will be easy and leave me smug  ;D 8)

I'll be at the Elefant on the Friday night. Bit of a sprint job as I've managed to sign myself up for dinner on the way there and twice on the way back with old mates, but hey someone's got to eat steak and drink beer in Europes better restaurants while you lot are out in the cold  ;)

There'll be a bottle of Jamesons that'll need emptying before I set off north though if anyone would care to help  ;D
