seen this?
« on: November 17, 2006, 11:15:19 AM »
Sorry to just chop stuff from other forums, but I thought this may interest some?  I remember there was a bit in a newsletter a while back about CR&S...

------------------------
This was on the supermono forum today:

Folks,

At the last round of the season at Cadwell there was talk in the meeting about whether the lack of complete ‘over-the-counter’ supermono racers may be limiting new entries to the class. There was also talk about the lack of a reasonable ‘crate’ type engine.

I’ve been kicking around some ideas with a few people and trying to see if there was a way to unlock this. In doing so I found that one company is developing a track focused supermono for 2007 aimed at race schools, track day enthusiasts and as a base model for supermono racing.

Some of you may already know about Roberto Crepaldi, who owns CRS motorcycles in Italy. As well as producing the 135kg road going, GP250 geometry, Rotax 654 (same as BMW F650) engined ‘Vun’ that Scott advertised on this website earlier in the year (52mm FI system, 55bhp in standard trim and 68bhp with high compression Omega piston and Pami camshaft) he was also the Harley, then Triumph importer for Italy and was the first Britten ‘customer’; running the team that took his V1000 to World Bears Victory in the mid 1990’s. He’s as much an enthusiast as we’ll find anywhere.

The Vun uses a chassis designed and built by Paton, which those of us of a certain vintage remember with fond affection. Paton were the GP privateer’s innovative alternative to Japanese machinery from the late 1950’s to the end of the 500GP era.

CRS are planning to offer a road racing version of their Paton built bike in the spring of 2007. If it looks like the roadbike, but with race bars and a fairing then it’s going to look close to a sharper edged Ducati Supermono. Keep an eye on their website for details.

www.crs-motorcycles.com

Bikes are bought direct through the website, but Flitwick motorcycles, close to ‘Mono-Central’ near Luton are CRS’s partner in the UK.

That’s all I know.

All the best.

Steve

A nice idea.  I wonder if it will happen.  The monos are maybe just a bit too "weird" a class, to arouse  much interest   :-(

Just having a quick peek at the images gallery - why dont we have bike shows like that?? Though I am not so sure about the ladies choice of safety gear....

The bike looks good, but not so sure about the shark fin/gill things on the side. But hey, I dont look at my bike when I am riding it.
