Good weekend and good to see some new faces, does anyone know what happened to Simon
Steve, another cracking weekend. The running repair worked fine to the first petrol stop (about a 100 miles), but decided to loosen itself off a few miles further on, just south of Walsall. I was in a 50mph road works section at the time and couldn't immediately pull over to the hard shoulder. Eventually got to a position where I could pull off but the engine cut out on me. Looking at the huge puddle of oil the bike was creating on the side of the road I Called Carole Nash and got recovered home.
After filling the engine with oil, it does start, but it's leaking a bit towards the top end somewhere (need to remove the tank for a better look) and there's a bit of a ticking sound. It's done 84,000 kilometers now, so I guess it's time for a strip down and rebuild. Too advanced for me to undertake though, so I'm hoping to send it to a new home with someone more capable than myself in the spannering department so that it can live again!
Looking to pay a visit to the local Yamaha dealer on the weekend to see if they've got any shiny XTs available on 0% finance!
I haven't given up on making the Tibbie Shiels get together yet!
Simon
