They have moved the TT to Jan!!!!!  :o :o :o :o

Does it not rain enough in IoM in June?  Should be good seeing Superbikes going down Bray Hill in a snowstorm, or having to finish in the dark.

Good point will be the ferry will be cheaper - why do the dolts put the TT on when the ferry is so expensive?  It is cheaper at other times of the year.

Point taken, topic moved, now will you please stop shouting, you're not an RSM.  ;)

I'd recommend the Tauerntreffen to anyone, it's a nice event. It doesn't have the rampant luncay of the Elefant rally, but that's part of its charm, it's an adults event.

If you could combine it with an elefant stop-over (say Thursday day and night) before riding the 150 miles to the TT then you would be getting your money's worth. Having said that, the Saturday night at the Elefant is (as Smudge can testify) always a fantastically mad thing.

True... but I am a DC so when I'm working the RSM keeps out of my way and lets me get on with the shouting  ;)

Sorry old chum, my military experience is limited to a brief stint in the ATC in the late 70s. DC? Is the C for captain?

And my original post raises another issue, do you use 'an' prior to the phonetic vowel sound of 'R' (in RSM) or use 'a' for the actual word Regimental (for which the R stands)? I opted for the former. Your thoughts?

Ahhh a Brylcreem boy... that explains a lot  ;) ;D
DC as in Detachment Commander... have a look here:
&feature=channel
The (not very shouty) bloke giving all the orders is the DC or "No 1".

As to "an" or "a", I was always led to believe that "a" was correct but that "an" was acceptable common useage and sounds nicer..

He needs to chill out  ;) A nice cup of camonile tea should do the trick...

Indeed, he's only tetchy because no-one has put a brew in his hands yet  ;) that's why Transalp John and I are always so quiet and mellow. Brew in hand at all times... it's a great British tradition!  ;D

On the "a" or "an" debate, it always miffs me when I pass a road sign saying that I was entering such-and-such a place.. "an historic town". Shouldn't that be "a historic town"? Unless it was the East End of London of course,  which is "an 'istoric town".......sort of.

Having my Oxford Dictionary of Current English to hand it states:

"an is used before vowel sounds (but not a one, a unit) and before heir, honour and hour (but not a hotel)"

Eeer! Simple really...........

Hasta luego
