Please help bits needed for Abigail
« on: October 13, 2006, 09:47:17 AM »
Abigail's 'new' rear wheel is back and I'm in need of some bits to fit it. Firstly a rear spindle would be nice :-) The thread of the one I have is knackered (not me m'lud) and the head is very badly marked.
next is some old wornout tyres to rest her on. 110/90X18 (rear) 100/90X18 (front) or anything close. Mixerman did give me an old Avon when I bought the wheel (thanks matey) but I in turn passed it on to a mate to help him out and now I'm bu99ered :-(

If anyone's got anything, I'd be really greatful Cheers guys.

Hi matey, The spindle is 270mm long (overall) and 16mm dia. Got anything?? Sorry I gave away the last tyre, but in my defence, I was only passing on the good will you'd shown me. (oops)

Pat, text me with a reminder of your location, I think I've got a pair of useable tyres you can have (will have to check) and I'll be heading down the M6 on Sunday....

Checked out the condition of  the spindle this afternoon to find that the end of the spindle is mullered I wish people would use spanners on their bikes and not use pipe grips, stilsons, molegrips etc instead !
Anyway off to do some carpentry with an adjustable spanner and bolster.
                                                    cheers

Thanks matey but I've got tyres from Smudge, quite good ones too :-) Looks like it'll be Stafford auto jumble for the spindle though. Anything going at the bottom of the garden GC??

Thanks Richard, but it's sorted. I had the thread re-cut and filed the bolt head myself to remove the burrs. Both the front and rear spindles are on their way to the platers for chroming now :-)

Couple of weeks and I should be posting piccies of her standing on her own two wheels :-)
