End of year bash at Dent
« on: August 06, 2008, 08:43:36 PM »
OK so here it is I am formally announcing and end of year get together at Dent for the weeken of the 18th / 19th October (Sorry Mart!)
The meet will coincide with a rally at Mick's farm by the Cossack owners club, but I have spoken to Trevor who is organising it and he has no objections to anyone joining in.
I will be taking the marquee along and will arrange for tea and coffee for the weekend.
The Cossack chaps have arranged for a folk group in one of the pubs and should there be plenty of interest I will arrange for extra toilets at the site.
This will be an informal event and I intend to advertise with the XRV chaps, BMW chaps, XT owners and of course our own club.
There seems to be little going on at the moment and I think it will be an opportunity to have a bit of a get together of likeminded souls and see my wonderful new bike!
I will also look into getting the Hog Roast meal sorted for the Saturday evening should enough interest be forthcoming.
Put it into your diary and try and make this a jolly good weekend.
Comments appreciated and put the word around, lets get this show on the road. Cheers SteveD ;D
PS Steve H could you add this into the calendar please. Cheers. ;)
If I'm not working I'll be away on my bike camping!

Just to refresh peoples memories, this weekend is still on, put it in your diaries and try to make it. I have spoken to Trevor from the Cossack owners' club and he recons that they will have about 40 persons turning up. I intend to take the Marquee over on the weekend before plus the lighting and as many chairs as I can muster, the usual Jiko and charcoal and perhaps my gas burners for tea / coffee. There will be no formally arranged food as numbers are a hassle, just an impromtu weekend of all sorts of bikes. Cheers steveD

I'm a definate maybe. Need to get married first, then introduce the idea at home  :-X

Not sure which group I should be with though, the Ural chair on a twin rather pushes me towards the Cossack boys  :-\

Perhaps we should make it formal? Show the Russian riders how it's done? Black Tie for dinner Old Boy?

Ah, Mr Dalby is already thinking along the lines of a "weirdest umbrella" event, a bit like the Hawiian shirts at past rallies.
(Good to see you again this weekend Steve - I hope you didn't get too wet on the way home, unlike Fridays soaking for the pair of us)

Where is this 'micks farm'? gonna get the SRX put back together over the next fortnight so was thinking of giving it a shake down run up to dent. I'm fairly familiar with dent but directions would be useful if it's off the beaten track.

Coming from Sedburgh, go into the town and over the cobbles past the Sun Inn. Don't take Beech Hill out of town towards Cowgill but stay on Main Street (passing the George & Dragon) towards Banks Lane (but don't go that far) The campsite comes up a few yards after the last of the houses/farm buildings on the right at the end of a drystone wall. Mick's house is on top of the hill where all the facilities are. You can  just about make the site out using Multimap - it's a sort of upside-down triangle at the southeast corner of the town with another load of farm buildings opposite the entrance.

On which note I have to say I probably won't be able to make this bash as I can't get the Friday and/or Saturday off. Barring a last minute miracle (like a long-term "sicknote" coming back to work) I shall have to wait for the New Year for another Thumper do.

Same here. Got two choices, put the new fence up or wait for divorce papers!
