Annual Rally Up-date 12/06/08
« on: June 12, 2008, 05:06:21 PM »
Here is some more information about the up-coming Rally:

  • There will now be a meal provided on both Friday and Saturday evening; I will be bringing a Curry, Rice and Nan breads for the Friday, and John Goode (who like myself lives not far away from the site) is generously providing Chinese for the Saturday - don't forget to bring you plate and cutlery.
  • I am just in the process of finishing THUMPER arrows, in a very fetching pink, to point the way to the site; look out for them on your way in.
  • If you are so inclined you could read the amended Health & Safety notices in the main menu.
  • The ride-out is now sorted and will not cover a huge distance (seventy miles max.) but three different venues; I will produce a map and directions to aid those who might get lost or want to explore on their own.
  • The cost PER TENT will be £5.00 PER NIGHT which will reduce the need for change!

This your Club Rally so if you have any queries or observation pleaseget in touch. Hopefully see plenty of you soon...........

Well done ol iron butt!!

I am looking forwards to it. Unfortunately I am double booked so I will taking a Saturday ride out to Derby railway station for a trip to London for an academic study day. Should be back by half eight so don't serve that chinese too early will you?

I guess I will have to take the long way home instead - only problem is I don't have a B-grade actor "special friend" to tag along

A bit last minute but I've managed to get my shifts covered on the Friday to Sunday so, MOT willing (hopefully a formality) I shall be there. It'll be nice to put a face to a few new names (to me). Well done Mother.  8)

I hope to be there for the Friday evening and expect the weather to behave itself as I nearly got wet last weekend! (read I was dry and warm, heated jacket! but saw an awful lot of wet bikers!) This year it appears that the Annual will be a low key affair and I will find it difficult to get the Marquee there as I have the new bike now and didn't want to get involved with the arrangements for this one. The bottom line as I see it is that we'll see how this event goes and if a concensus is to have a more formal event with the 'trimmings' then I'm up for it as I have in the past enjoyed organising the rally. ;D
Unfortunately the new bike is too tall to fit into my Transit, I do not have a towing hitch and the marquee is at my place, so unless there is anyone who could collect and take down to the meet we shall just have to do without :-\
Hope to see old and new faces there and remember behave yourselves :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o
If I'm not working I'll be away on my bike camping!

What time are people thinking of getting there. I will be going via Shrewsbury if anyone want to meet up and tag along. I am hoping to get away at a reasonably early hour from the west

i'm setting off around 9am friday but decided to go up through the cotswolds. Always heading north via mid Wales and beautiful though it is, I fancied a change this time. Knowing my sense of direction and navigational skills can someone leave a light on in the pub on Saturday for me??

Probably mid afternoon away from the Edinburgh area for me. Journey time will depend on my choice of transport and the weather but at least 5 hours so probably sometime after eight for me (hmmmm minty!  :D )

I'll be there late afternoon/early evening. It's only a 60 mile run for me but I've got to help No1 son move flat so first.

Going for an early start to avoid the commuters around Guildford and hopefully will make Fox's Diner near Oxford by 8:30. Then just a pootle up, skirting Banbury, Leamington and Coventry. Another coffee stop before Ashby-de-la-Zouch and then to the rally. That's the plan - let's see if it works  ::)

solo... and I still have to finish packing, and sort the topbox mount, and find a stove, and cook/eat lunch, fuel the bike, and find a working airline to check the tyres, and, and, and....  ::)

Expect me to arrive late tonight chaps!  ;)
