Tank sealant
« on: January 19, 2008, 04:06:17 PM »
I am renovating an old Francis Barnett and need to seal the fuel tank. Its Had a previous repair and has been filled over a weld. I was thinking of using this tank sealant.
Has anyone used it and can recommend a brand or advice on using

Cheers Ken

I used a kit from www.frost.co.uk recently on a CB900 tank. I went for that one because you get everything you need for £25 so I didn't have to go around pricing up petseal and etching stuff and whatnot. Results were favourable, it's a slag of a job though. Frosts are pretty good, they do loads of useful restoration stuff. Not terribly cheap but not hugely expensive.

I did my old MZ 2 smoke tank with POR15,I got it from Frosts. If you use that make sure you mix it well-it looks like Hammerite-and keep moving the tank around to ensure coverage. It was still fine when I sold the bike a couple of years later.
