'classic bike' trackday report
« on: September 14, 2006, 05:20:08 AM »
was looking forward to a ride up to cadwell, that was until i got up at 5 on tuesday morning and it was pi55ing down!, so, waterproofs on over my old trackday leathers, breadbags over my socks and off we go....actually stopped after 40 miles, so second half of the journey was spent drying out, arrived at cadwell just in time to sign on, and by the time all the groups had done the obligatory 3 sighting laps the track was dry and the sun was out...yipee.
Had a great day, Number 1 behaved herself, and was overjoyed to see Number 3 (sold 3 weeks ago) out on track at the same time!
lots of tasty machinery around, the single largest group being a variety of gold stars and rgs's followed by manx's and a few matchless's, the 80's group was mainly populated by rather smelly 250 yam 2 strokes which were indecently quick once 'on pipe' .
not one enfield did i see...pity
one series c vincent out on track and going very nicely (sounding great too) and a honda 4 in full race trim which assaulted the ear drums.... oh and an SR 500, which was indecently quick (as he was last year)
A fun day out, no-one and no bike damaged.....and a great dry warm ride home where Number 1 and me could get a bit 'adventurous' on that lovely bit of road from cadwell down through horncastle to boston having a bit of fun with some guys on goldies.....ahhhh now I know why i'm a biker (I did before, but a bit of reaffirmation is a good thing i think!) pip pip
