Have started to build yet another srx race bike for son (john) who hopes to get out asap for some much needed practice before the season end, after his off at Cadwell last year.
The bike itself will be straight forward enough but the problem for us (non mechanics / but learning fast!) will be the tuning of the engine (600cc). We want to tune the motor (mildly- ish) & will probably have to do the work ourselves due to costs, so if anybody (hello Steve L?) could give us info on how to do it & what parts to use & where to source them.
What would really help is a comprehensive ABC of how to do it (strip & tune the motor that is!).
Assuming the std. 608 engine is about mid 30's bhp & would be of almost no use on the track we would like to be getting around 50bhp if that would be achievable on a reasonable budget?
OR, if anybody can do the said work on the engine (give us a quote) (we would like to send them to a tuning shop but£££££££££'s beyond us). I said them, because we have another rider (Simon Bird) joining us on another srx, he hopes to get his bike (with our help) ready for the end of the year, & enter the supermonos next season.
The two engines we have at the moment are
1- nice low mileage std. &
2- unknown condition, thought to be std., should be a runner as it came out of an mot'd bike but has stood for a while (gets a spark when turned)
+ we have a ton of spares bits & pieces. cheers, john 07930916509
