XBR rejetting

Hi

I have an XBR 500, purchsed with a fruity exhaust (de-baffled aftermarket sports, pretty much empty!) and a K&N filter.

It still has the standard 152 main jet and, needless to say, runs a little lean over 4k.

Obviously when it comes onto the needle jet it isn't getting enough juice. I've stripped and cleaned the carb and have been told that as a rule of thumb a 10% increase in jet size would help: ie a 167.

I'm tempted to raise the needle by adding a washer too.

Does this course of attack seem feasible? Any suggestion on the range of jets or sensible step sizes that I should buy to swap until I have it running nicely?

Ta!

PS to all who remember my original posts a few months back; I truly am loving singledom once again!

I ran a 165 main jet with an unbaffled Goldie silencer.

And yes it was effing loud :)

Cheers
