Aluminuim swinging arm

I have finally made a start on fitting an aluminuim swinging arm to the XBR, I finally went for a honda CR500 item, fitted it upside down so it would clear the oil tank, had some bracing underneath and bought some weld on shock mounts. it fits easily and will only require some spacers made up

PS.... is it the same length as the original XBR swinging arm? If so, how very unlike Honda but great news for you 👍

Thanks Michael  The arm is about 2cm longer so not much difference

Its all going together well, I had to space the footpeg hangers 5mm further out to clear the swinging arm and have fitted some nice YSS shocks, I am going to have to change the rear brake rod for a cable as the rod touches the swinging arm

OOOooo! Serious tweaking Jooles. 

I'm up to my oxters in road grime, hardened grease, seized brakes and general neglect, having purchased a NTV600K that has covered less than 30K since 1996 and less than 1k since 2015, but MoT'd every year! 

As it was originally registered by Orr's in Belfast in 1996 and is a 1990 model machine, I think it sat in the showroom for a wee while. It has been named as the "Belfast Barge", when compared to the leash (Scots for thin) SRX's and the Duke. but should accomodate Kat on pillion if she fancies looking over hedges rather than trying to steer between them. 

There is no way I'd take the Barge into the house at present, but the stove in the workshop is burning old Sitka spruce and Japanese larch offcuts, so there is  nice warmth and it keeps the tea warm on the top.

Thanks Bill, Your NVT sounds like a good buy but obviously not serviced very often even though it has passed many MOT's hardend greese is a right pain usually having to he chiselled out of the bearing serfaces, plenty of wd40 can help soften it, Your workshop sounds quite cozy with its burner
