The cbf250 arrived yesterday and did not disappoint for a low mileage 19yr old machine.
New tyres and fresh engine oil were apparent, along with loads of paper to support its provenance.
Today, I took it out for its maiden voyage.
Bike started easily and off I went. The immediate impressions were very positive as it was comfortable, light and very easy to ride. Gearchange and clutch were slick. The engine was quiet and seemed to have a really nice amount of power.
Two miles in and I was thinking “what a little cracker”, but then the engine just died and wouldn’t restart.
Eventually I got it going, turned around and headed for home, with the little Honda, spluttering, backfiring and threatening to cut out again. Anyway, 2 miles later and we are home.
Now here’s the rub…………I’m no mechanic but this has to be a simple fuel delivery issue. I’ve already alerted the motorcycle dealer, some 150 miles away, by text though they’re shut until Monday.
I bought the bike online and that gives me certain rights to reject and have it collected, but clearly that means no tampering or investigating.
However, I would just prefer to have it repaired and keep it.
I’m just wondering how the dealer will resolve this. Any thoughts please?
