CB250RS Handlebar
« on: November 19, 2023, 05:34:51 PM »
Hi, Has anyone any info on fitting Handlebar Risers to a Honda CB250 RS?  In particular I'm thinking about how the existing cables, brake hose, and wiring loom may make this difficult or impossible, without a lot of bodgery--or if anyone has done it, how much rise was possible?
Thanks,
Robin.

Hi Robin

Sorry I have never owned a 250 rs but in my experience most bikes have enough cable etc for a couple of inches rise at least without a major problem. To work out a rough measurement leave all of your cables etc connected, undo the bar clamps and gently lift the bars to see how much rise is possible.

Good luck.

Morning Robin (and Ian) I’m a little confused as to your question Robin as the cb250rs comes with a stepped top yoke with built in risers as standard. Do you mean you’re wanting to put higher/wider bars on or possibly your bike has a non standard top yoke? Or are you wanting to bolt on some riser extensions to the original risers?
Cheers, Michael

I put a pair of universal risers on my 250RS. No problems with cable length etc although I seem to remember the bars were fairly low rise and narrow. I think I had to mod the bracket for the headlight mounting a bit.

'evening all,
Thanks for the replies, my RS has the standard lowish, flattish, narrowish 'bars.  I've had this lovely little bike for 40 years, trouble is I've had my hands and wrists since 1942 and they are not so good.  The idea of fitting risers is simply to take a bit of the weight off the wrists, so I shall try!
Robin.

Hands and wrists definitely wear out faster than bikes.

I once fitted a CB250RS engine, cables and wiring loom to an XL250S; which has a taller frame and handlebars than the RS.  I had no problem with the reach on any of the cables, so I think you should be able to to the risers without any issues.
