Can't see any like that. Try aliexpress where there's a good range of stuff. The nearest I can find in the UK are these: https://www.classicbikeshop.co.uk/universal-black-stick-on-knee-grips.html which I'm considering for my XBR build.

I know this may be miles out, but to me they look a little bit like later Cossack knee pads. I would broaden my search I think as chances are they are some random knee pads that aren't specific to the XBR or even Honda.

Thanks for your reply's chaps.
Ian, your suggested pads are just plain UGLY.

The type I illustrated are frequently seen on Japanese GB400's and I suspect they were optional extras at the time.
To me they are the only ones that truly suit the bike. If I can't source them I'm happy to do without.

I'm also on the lookout for a pair of ORIGINAL ISSUE (NOT REPRO) MZ fork gaiters. Our friends on XBR.dr swear by them for their bikes. They don't rot, unlike everything available these days.

The kneepads I suggested actually look exactly like the ones on your bike, it's just that I suggested the wrong bike that I had seen them on!

Itsme,
I do appreciate your input, but the pads you refer to are entirely the wrong shape, plus the ones I posted have a small bead texture, not that chocolate bar pattern.
So, no, they aren't remotely like what I'm after.

I didn't suggest that those I found weren't ugly Alex. In fact in my view the ones you seem to be looking for are pretty hideous. Just trying to help.

I have no idea and suspect that they are a "one off" made from some form of rubber matting by a competent DIY'er.

Having had a trawl through countless "Empire Made" websites and the late Prince Philip's favourite exporters of tat, I came across an extensive range of possibilities offered by Demon Tweaks!

Stomp_grip

Eazi-grip

Cut_your_own!

There are a further 3352 items that you can peruse on the Demon Tweeks website that should offer some potential! If that search reveals just "plain ugly pads", then the ".... "one off" made from some form of rubber matting by a competent DIY'er." would appear to be your best option for getting the tools out.

Good health, Bill

Those demon tweeks things are £55! No doubt there are people daft enough to buy them.

I do note from various other forums and facebook pages that some people - generally in the USA - deem the XBR and its fancier sibling the GB500 to be a "classic" and as such get shirty when anybody fits anything non standard. Nice though they are, they're only mass produced, relatively recent machines and as such suitable candidates for modification.

H Ian.

Yes, I looked into your suggestions and found that £55 one a bit of a joke too, but thanks all the same.

I agree, the Honda's are just a bike, like any other.
The numbers aren't big (UK imported much less than 2000, the USA got about the same number of GB's, half of which finished up in Germany). The DVLA recons there are less than 400 left on their books.

I don't mind sensible mods. Never one to throw money at a Money Monster.
