New Thumpette
« on: April 21, 2022, 06:31:06 AM »
Well, the Himalayan has gone! I enjoyed my year with it, but all good things must end. To be honest, I'd forgotten how damned heavy it was over the winter and when I woke it up from hibernation in March I really struggled with it. Damn the arthritis and bad back. It's also true to say I'd lost a bit of faith after Simon Morgan's experience with his which dropped a valve and wrote the top of the engine off  :o

I swapped it for this little thumpette, a 6 month old Honda cb125f. What a cracking little bike! Very light weight, handles like a dream and a bundle of fun on the kind of B roads and country lanes I like. I've saved the best bit for last - it's averaging 170mpg!

Top stuff Pete. Couple of cracking photos, really gets one in the mood to get the bike out and go for a spin. 👍... cheers, Michael

Sweet little thing Pete. Unfortunately I'd look like a gorilla on a roller skate riding one of those....

Yeah I think Pete’s finger must have slipped when typing it Matt. Maybe it should really say 70 mpg 😉😉👍

NO! Those motors run on fumes, a Grom will do 182mpg and cruise at 55mph, with a large person aboard, all day. Whereas my ST70 would only get 70mpg, cruise at 35mph and nip up after 25miles with 80Kg aboard.

50 years of development, most of it in the black art of electrickery.

Good health, Bill

Honda quote 180mpg, so I'm a bit disappointed  :o ;D

Seriously, it's what Honda call 'Enhanced Smart Power' which basically means the engine was designed from the ground up with low friction and efficiency in mind.

Hey Pete

What a fabulous bike. As I've said before there is a lot of fun to be had from a small bike, especially at those mpg figures.
