Skorpion riding position - can it be improved??
« on: May 05, 2007, 03:34:31 PM »
Hi Everyone

Skorpion is now getting a lot more use :-) and I am finding the riding position a pain (skorpion cup with standard clip-ons). Is there an easy fix? I read somewhere about swapping the bars over right to left? Plan B would be drill the top yoke and fit flat bars but the control cables etc look pretty short........

Has anyone come up with a solution?

Hi mate,

I have an SZR660 and the same issue if spending a long time in the saddle. The guys on the SZR forum seem to recommend drilling the top yoke and fitting clamps for raised bars - which I would do if I had easy access to getting it done. Of course if you do the bars, do you then do the pegs...........?

Mine is mostly used for short, rapid blats so I guess I'll cope. Although purchased panniers ready for Dent today so that might change things....

I fitted GSXR750WN bars to my SZR, they are a fair bit higher and improved comfort. They do need a longer front brake hose, to get the full benefit.

Hi Frog,

There was a thread on the MZOG list on Yahoo about something very similar, I cannot remember the details but you may want to check it out. I am assuming that the cup does not use paoli items like the tour and traveller?

Hi

I have swapped over the clip-ons left to right / right to left and turned them up side down. Riding position is much improved - no more wrist ache. Steering lock is unaffected (more clearance in fact) and the whole thing feels a lot more 'right' than it did.

This is a quick and easy fix - you have to drill one 5mm hole in the old left hand bar (new right) to accommodate the pin in the righthand switch gear that stops it rotating. Other than that it is a straight swap over.

The switch gear is seriously cheap stuff........

Cheers
