xbr500 Lubricating pistons on assembly

(1/2) > >>

richardeblack:
Hello All,
Me again.
Starting to assemble my XBR engine and having checked every thing for ring gaps etc, I looked in the manual and it says to apply molybdenum disulphide grease  to the piston od before fitting.  Never heard of this before, just used oil on floating gudgeon pins.
Does anyone else do this?
Thanks,
Richard.

tommy:
that's what i always use engine oil from the oil can  Richard

johnr:
fresh engine oil for me too.

richardeblack:
Thank you both for that. It did seem odd but clearly says to use grease in the Honda manual. I'll stick with my intuition and your advice and use oil.
Thank you
Richard

CrazyFrog:
Yep, I use engine oil too. Unless it's a two stroke - then I use 2T oil!  ;D
