Mash 650
« on: October 16, 2020, 10:14:16 PM »
Hi folks. I`m thinking about buying a Mash.

It`s the 650 X Ride.

Does anyone have any experience with the marque or maybe even on an X Ride?

Cheers

Sorry, no knowledge on them, but looks good. Here's a link to the test launch, showing Mash pampering a load of bike journos, the lucky barstewards!

I hadn't seen the 650 before but it looks interesting. I had a test ride on the 400 a few years ago but decided to wait till they came on the 2nd hand market. There are a few used ones about but they seem to hold their price better than I expected.

Aye Steve,

Looks like the Honda Domi motor look alike in an XT500 chassis with the minimal front mudguarding getting a definite "Thumbs down"  >:(  from me! Sh!te over all the nooks and crannies and that oil cooler every time it goes out and then the black engine finish will soon look tatty!  :(

Price appears no bad, but I suspect an RE 'Classic' will hold it's price better!  ;)

I'm no pandering to any sympathies on this forum!  ;)

Has anybody got the agency on the Island?

Good health, Bill

Good points well made Bill. Paul Dedman in Ramsey can get me one and provide any warranty work required, so that should be ok. You`re right about the RE price. It`s also the same price as a RE Himalayan and another grand would buy a RE Interceptor so it is certainly food for thought?

Aye Steve,

Paul's been round a while and whilst he is a 'dealer', I think he has a reasonable reputation around the Island.

Quite a few years back I had the opportunity of a Gilera Saturno 500 mono, with a spare set of wheels/tyres for £2,500, but didn't have the cash at the time. May be I should have found the cash!  ;)

Enjoy whatever you decide on.  ;D

Good health, Bill

My only experience was that, earlier this year, I bought a 400 misleadingly badged as a 500. The engine was ok, well known as being a descendant of the ubiquitous XBR engine. The chassis I found to be another thing. Very cheap fasteners, sloppy threads, lots of sharp edges etc. I had to replace the torque arm bolts as it was only the split pin holding the nut on! I have kept the original bolt as a reminder.
Mash has a new importer (https://www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/news-and-views/news/2020/september/mash-motorcycles-motomondo-uk-distributor) after 3 cross went into administration earlier this year.
To sum up I wasn't impressed...just another Chinese built bike with associated problems. Whether the 650 is a better built bike remains to be seen.
The irony is that I made £400 pound on the resell of the Mash.

Yes, I wasn't very impressed by the build "quality" of the Mash I tried.
